In Martinvast, cider takes on an international character
After visiting in November 2023 to discover Norman ciders, Jurij and Aleksei Skibin, two brothers from Slovenia, returned to Martinvast (Manche) at the end of November 2024 to deepen their knowledge of cider.

Jurij and Aleksei Skibin have created the Cider Club in Slovenia. It is a community of specialists and enthusiasts who are reviving and popularizing the tradition of apple cider in Slovenia. They offer their clients the chance to taste a range of ciders not available commercially to showcase the diversity of this drink.
Podcasts recorded and broadcast in Slovenia
They have organized a cider festival and opened a venue where cider flows freely. This includes Norman cuvées from houses like Dupont and Pierre Huet (Pays d’Auge), as well as more local varieties such as those from Vergers de la Passion and Le Cidre Clos Moulin.
“As we want to go further, we came back this year to discover new cuvées and to produce podcasts,” the brothers explained. “These will be broadcast in Slovenia to introduce the world of cider.”
On the afternoon of Wednesday, November 27, 2024, they met with François Badier from Cidre Clos Moulin. On the agenda: an orchard visit and cider tasting. They also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with Arthur Léonard, the chef of Le P’tit Crabe in Goury (Manche), who uses various ciders to pair with his dishes. “France is seen globally as the country of wine. Why do you choose to use cider to accompany your dishes?” asked Jurij and Aleksei Skibin.
While sometimes overlooked by locals, who prefer beer or wine, Cotentin cider delights taste buds far beyond its borders.
