Cider Food — Tasting Events at Babna Reka

Autumn cider tastings at a picturesque Skibin & Skibin Farm in Babna Reka valley were a hit.

We had not only ciders, but Pommeaux (aged apple mistelle) and Calvados (aged apple brandy) from Normandie, too.

They were long tasting events. We sampled eleven varieties of cider, three pommeaux, and two calvados from our collection.

All with food pairing samples, of course. The stewards showed pairing options by serving chosen appetizers with the drinks.|

To set a reference point, at first we tasted a popular Italian cider Melchiory. Then followed an excellent Slovenian apple wine, Modri Kameni. Then, we moved on to the Norman keeved ciders from Domaine Dupont, Les Vergers de La Passion, Calvados Pierre Huet and Clos Moulin.

We're delighted this event format was a hit with guests. The plan is to hold more. We will also add shorter sessions that focus on a narrower selection of ciders and calvados but with more in-depth exploration.
